Auction Lots Identified as Looted Antiquities

Dr Christos Tsirogiannis of the Division of Archaeology identified two ancient artefacts as having been illegally smuggled out of Italy.

 

A 2nd- to 1st-century BC Greek glass jug due to be auctioned by Christie’s and a 3rd-century BC pottery box due to be auctioned by Bonham’s were subsequently withdrawn from sale.
