HERITAGE IN AN AGE OF EXTREMES? - The Cambridge Heritage Research Centre brings together leading experts in the field of heritage to explore how heritage is used, created, lost and found in extreme conditions. Through four 15-minute presentations the panel presents current research on how heritage fares in contexts of extreme environments, be they natural, cultural, geographical or political. A 30-minute panel discussion then challenges the speakers to consider whether we are living in an age of unparalleled extremes. How do ideologies of extremism use heritage, and to what effect? How does living on a disappearing coastline or an earthquake-prone region shape one's understanding of heritage and belonging?
