Candidates sought for Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships 2012
Applications are invited for grants from the DM McDonald Grants and Awards Fund
LEVERHULME TRUST – ISAAC NEWTON TRUST EARLY CAREER FELLOWSHIPS (2012)
The McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research would like to put forward a strong candidate or candidates for this year's round of Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships. These fellowships are jointly funded by the host institution and the Leverhulme Trust. The Isaac Newton Trust has offered to provide the matching funds from the University of Cambridge.
The McDonald Institute thus requests proposals from post-doctoral researchers - the strongest of which will be supported for application to the Newton Trust in the hope that they will be chosen for subsequent application to the Leverhulme Trust.
Please note that the Newton Trust suggests that candidates with the best chance of success have at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience. More junior applicants will be considered if the Department makes a strong supporting case for them. Candidates are not eligible if their PhD viva was more than five years before the Leverhulme closing date of 8 March 2012, unless they have had a career break. For full details of how to apply for a Leverhulme ECF.
Submissions for the McDonald Institute/Newton Trust stage of the process should include a statement of current and prospective research (preferably a draft of your Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship application, subject to the same word limits), a CV of no more than 2 pages including publications, and two letters of reference. It is not necessary to submit a budget.
Applications in hard and electronic copy and letters of reference must reach Sara Harrop, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge, Downing Street, Cambridge, CB2 3ER (slh30@cam.ac.uk) by Monday 16 January 2012.
Informal questions can be directed to Professor Graeme Barker (gb314@cam.ac.uk) or Dr James Barrett (jhb41@cam.ac.uk).
