GeneTime Workshop
Announcing the Fourth GeneTime Workshop on the Domestication of Plants and Animals 2007
When? Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th September 2007
Where? McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge
How much? The workshop is paid for by the GeneTime consortium and is free to all participants. Lunch, teas and coffees are included. There will be a Conference Dinner on the evening of the 4th.
Who do I contact if I wish to attend/participate? Dr Ceiridwen Edwards edwardc@tcd.ie or Mim Bower mab1004@cam.ac.uk
Because we are arranging lunches and the conference dinner, we need to know numbers, so please contact either Ceiridwen or Mim stating if you wish to attend, whether you would like to give a presentation (please include a 100 word abstract), and whether you wish to attend the conference dinner.
Some details:
The workshop is primarily for Masters and PhD students, but all are welcome to listen to the presentations and contribute to the discussions. We will focus on the domestication of plants and animals and will feature presentations from experts in the field and students and invited tutorial sessions on various aspects of the archaeological science approaches to domestication (archaeozoology, isotopes and both modern and ancient DNA).
The GeneTime workshop is for all students involved with GeneTime, as well as any other Ph.D. or Masters students who wish to attend.
Student participants are encouraged to give a short (15 minute) presentation on some aspect of their ongoing work. Students will be given positive feedback on their talks including presentation style, abstract quality, etc., that would help the students improve on the art of communicating their science - although anyone who just wants to just take part 'passively' is more than welcome too.
A full program will be available shortly at this link: www.york.ac.uk/depts/arch/GT/welcome.html
